The New Food Pyramid Tearpad Handout helps folks visualize whole foods, understand what ultra-processed foods are and how to replace them, build a healthy plate, and view the food groups with many whole, budget-friendly, and culturally acceptable choices.
The tearpad is printed in color on both sides on glossy paper, with 50 sheets per pad. The size is 8.5 inches by 11 inches. The pads are in English (Spanish coming soon).
The recommendations are simple and stick to the science behind the guidelines, as well as the emphasis on eating whole, real food.
The Dietary Guidelines and New Pyramid recommend 3 servings of vegetables, 2 servings of fruit, adequate protein (2-3 servings for most people based on weight), 3 servings of dairy, and 2-4 servings of whole grains each day. This poster highlights the variety of foods available for those servings.
