MiPlato: MyPlate in Spanish
MiPlato is MyPlate in Spanish. It teaches the same five food groups with the same familiar picture, so a Spanish-speaking family sees the exact plate they already know from the clinic, the school, and the handout on the refrigerator.
Why the same picture matters
In a bilingual room, a matching image does a lot of quiet work. When the poster on the wall, the handout in a client's hand, and the plate on the table all show the same MiPlato, nobody gets a different lesson from the person next to them. You teach once, in two languages, from one picture.
How to use MiPlato
Start with the MiPlato poster to introduce the five groups, give each person a tearpad handout to take home, and reach for a bilingual item where your group mixes English and Spanish speakers.
