Getting Out the New Year's Resolutions for 2024

2023 was quite a year. The good news is that Covid is no longer a world emergency, but inflation, political chaos, tension, and wars make us all feel like ten years went by. Bring on 2024!

We have prepared a checklist of rock-solid health habits to create a New Year's resolution list for 2024. Choose a few or try them all!

Resolution: Prioritize Well-Being in 2024

  1. Regular Physical Activity:

    • Commit to engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity per week, along with muscle-strengthening activities on two or more days.
  2. Balanced Nutrition with MyPlate:

    • Focus on a balanced and varied diet. Increase the intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Limit processed foods, added sugars, and excessive salt. Use MyPlate to get your best outcome.
  3. Mindful Eating Habits:

    • Practice mindful eating by savoring each bite, paying attention to hunger and fullness cues, and avoiding distractions during meals. This fosters a healthier relationship with food.
  4. Adequate Hydration:

    • Prioritize hydration by drinking at least 8 glasses (64 ounces) of water per day. Adjust this based on individual needs, activity level, and climate.
  5. Quality Sleep:

    • Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night. Establish a consistent sleep routine, create a comfortable sleep environment, and limit screen time before bedtime.
  6. Stress Management:

    • Incorporate stress-reducing activities into your routine, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga, and hobbies that bring joy and relaxation.
  7. Regular Health Check-ups:

    • Schedule regular check-ups and screenings to monitor your health. Address any concerns or conditions promptly and proactively.
  8. Social Connections:

    • Nurture positive social connections. Spend quality time with friends and family, join social groups, and prioritize meaningful relationships for emotional well-being. Put one meaningful event with a friend on your calendar each week.
      1. Be mindful of screen time, especially before bedtime. Create designated periods for technology use and incorporate activities that promote engagement and connection with the real world.
    • Gratitude Practice: Cultivate a gratitude practice by reflecting on positive aspects of your life regularly. This can contribute to mental and emotional well-being.
Remember that the key to successful resolutions is gradual progress and consistency. Start with small, sustainable changes and build upon them as the year progresses. Additionally, listen to your body, be flexible in adapting your goals, and celebrate your achievements along the way.
